Learning How to Cook Day 8

Well it has been a few days since I cook anything. I made spaghetti and pancakes over the last week. But I have made them before.

So today lesson was goulash. I sprayed a frying pan with Pam and warmed it before placing the hamburger in. I had another pan bring water to a boil, ( I added salt and oil to make it boil faster and not stick)

While the Marconi was boiling (and there was a lot of Marconi) I chopped up the hamburger, in the frying pan ( I like small Hamburger in my goulash and chili) I chopped up onion ( I like onion to flavor the meat, not take it over) really fine. Placed the onion in the frying pan, I added some salt and pepper to the hamburger, then I added Chili powder over the hamburger.

When the marconi finished boiling, I added some tomato juice and hambuger and stirred, then I added more chili power.

My mother said the marconi is cooked perfect, but she did not like the onion in the hamburger. Denice said it was ok. Sharron Scott was over and she tested it and said it was good.

Learning How to Cook Day 7

Today I was alone in the kitchen, I made pork chops and beef noodles. I placed the pork chops in the warmed frying pan that I sprayed with pam and added some pepper to the pan ( I am the only one who likes pepper)

In a sauce pan I added two cups of water and one tablespoon of butter and added a package of beef noodles. Cook them for ten minutes then set them aside to mold.

I cut up a green granny smith apple on the side.

Everyone enjoyed it.

Learning How to Cook Day 6

It has been a few days, Sunday we had a frozen pizza before going off to my aunt Suzie's Birthday party. I had Chocolate ice cream for the first time in years.

Monday, was a busy day I took my mother out to Meijers and we were there for three hours. For dinner we had Meijer dell department fried chicken, and a salad which Denice made. I wa wind blowned from pumping gas and my eyes hurt. We purchase Meijer Dell Fried Chicken a lot. We like it better then Kentucky Fried Chicken. To me it is less salty.

So tonight I warmed up the left over Meijer Dell Fried Chicken, made box mash potatoes, with brown gravy, and fresh uncooked green beans. It was my first day in the Kitchen all by myself.

It was also the first time the milk and butter did not go over in the pan while I was trying to cook.

Tomorrow is the final lenten soup supper at church, the 8th grade class at Salem Lutheran church is making sloppy joes, so tomorrow night will be dinner with the fun people at Salem.

Learning How to Cook Day 5

Saturday, April 9, 2011 a slow day. I went to the Movies and saw the movie Paul starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, had a lot of popcorn. Went to Meijers where they were handing out the Meijer O Cookies dipped in white chocalte (Yum)

Came home and made dinner, waffles. We have a waffel iron that makes two waffles at a time, the only problem with it is the next waffle is done before you can eat the first one.

So I mixed by batter while the waffle iron was pre-heating

2 Cups of Batter mixed with

1 1/2 Cups cold water

2 tablespoons of oil

Mix it together, really fast and hard (To remove the batter lumps) it will still look like a little lump.

Spray waffle iron and poor two spoons full of batter into the iron shut the lid and Flip over to the other side, and repeat making sure you always spray the waffle iron before each waffle you make.

and enjoy.

Learning How to Cook Day 4

Today is day four of learning how to cook, for lunch I made Grilled Cheese on Italian bread. Using Kraft Cheese singles (2 1/2) , it turned out wonderful, the cheese was pulling away from the sandwich when you would take a bit.

As you may already know I had a special person in the kitchen with me tonight, my sister Denice was the teacher and we made Lasagna. And she did not make fun of me!

Denice sprayed the extra large sauce pan and place the water in it to boil. I sprayed the frying pan with Pam and started to brown the hamburger. Once the noodles cooked for 15 minutes she had me take them out of the pan and cut the ends off (four or five ridges) because they did not fit into the pan. When finished it turned out really good, my mother even eat a second plate, which I have never seen her do.

Lasagna

Spray pan and place water in, once water boils place noodles in (in number of 3, 3 noodles of each layer) 12-15 Noodles. Keep stirring noodles so they do not stick to the pan

Spray frying pan and warm the pan. Place hamburger in the pan and chop with spatula, keep stirring hamburger so it does not stick to the pan .

Pre-heat oven at 375

When noodles and hamburger are done, spray glass baking pan (11*8) and place a layer of meat Flavored Sauce. Take noodles out in numbers of three and grab them out of the pan in the middle of the noodles (ends will break off if you grab them by the ends) trim a few rows off ( 4 or 5 ridges on the noodle) so the fit into the pan.

Place 3 noodles into the pan and put sauce on top of noodles, place some hamburger on top of the sauce and then some cheese. (Sauce and Cheese can be water ever kind you like)

Repeat steps until all the noodles are in the pan. Place into the oven and bake 15-18 minutes.

Place most of the Cheese on the top

When removing the noodles from the pan use tongs and do not drain, water will splash up onto you

While the hamburgers cooked I made a salad. When the hamburgers were finished I added cheese to mine. They turned out! I finally cooked some meat (-:

My mother said it was a good dinner.

Day 3 a success.

Learning how to cook

So I have decided that I need to learn how to cook. So yesterday I asked my mother if she would show me how to cook, and she agreed. So today we started with what we call Theresa Soup ( because it has beef in it, the chicken soup is made a little different and is call garbage soup) I was surprised how good the soup turned out, it was my first time using the pressurer Cooker. Step one Cut the slightly frozen meat into a size that would fit onto a spoon Put the meat into the pan and brown the meat but in a med is bowl of water and add 3-5 Bay leafs, stir the bottom of the pan really well and place lid on the pan cook on high until you hear the sizzling noise, reduce heat to Med and cook for 20 minutes Clean and cut 5-6 med Potatoes, and 5-7 Large Carrots (Do not use the small carrots or can) Cut into large pieces so they do not become mushy place in a bowl of Cold water. Drain the water and place in the pan (when the meat is done) add water to pan if needed. Cook 15 Minutes remove lid and taste test carrots. Once the Carrots are cook Drain one can each of Corn, French Cut Green Beans, Peas, Cut Green Beans add to the pot bring to a slight bowl and enjoy.
