ELSIE — Recipes have been published online at Elsie.org for the Free Fall Festival baking contest.  

The contest deadline for having entries posted is Sept. 21. The prizes include first place in each age category $100, plus a gift box from Uncle John’s Cider Mill and a bag of goodies from Michigan Sugar.

Make pumpkin bread

Just made pumpkin bread
pre-heat oven at 350
3 cups sugar
1cup cooking oil
4 large eggs
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2/3 cup water
1 15-ounce can pumpkin

spray the bottom of your pan, turn on oven

In a large bowl mix together (beat sugar and oil in a mixer on medium speed, add eggs and beat well)

In another large bowl combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg, alternately add flour mixture and water to sugar mixture. beating on low speed .  Add the pumpkin, and mix well.

Bake at 350  for 55-65 minutes  and enjoy
